O’Nordic is based in Posio, in Finnish Lapland, 30 minutes from Kuusamo and the Ruka resort, between Lake Kitka and the Riisitunturi and Oulanka National Parks. This is where we have chosen to live, to build our kennel and to share a region where nature still reigns supreme.

Here, every season offers a new way to discover the Far North. Driving a dog sledge, going for a hike, exploring the frozen lakes or simply enjoying the silence: it all begins on your doorstep, in an unspoilt region far from the major tourist centres.

Moments of connection happen naturally, at their own rhythm and yours.

Nature immersion

During our sled dog rides, there are no snowmobiles escorting the tours.
Everything is done authentically with the dog teams and a guide leading by sled, ensuring a truly immersive experience.

 Verified Warm, authentic, unforgettable: The tour with Mailys
The dog sledding tour with Mailys was an all-round extraordinary experience that will stay with us for a long time to come. Even at the reception you immediately notice how personal and warm everything is designed. Mailys takes her time and creates a pleasant, trusting atmosphere. Especially impressive is her palpable passion for what she does. She explains everything understandably and with great enthusiasm – and above all, it quickly becomes clear that the welfare of the dogs is her top priority. Their respectful and loving treatment of the animals is not only professional, but also authentic and touching. I myself am more of a person who is a bit distant from dogs at first. It was all the more surprising to me how much I was enthusiastic about this experience. In the course of the tour, I not only built up trust, but also ended up actively engaging with one of the dogs – something I didn’t expect before. The ride itself was simply fantastic: Gliding over a frozen lake, surrounded by an impressive winter landscape – this is pure nature experience. The silence, width and even gliding of the sled create a very special atmosphere that is both calming and exciting. Overall, an absolutely recommendable experience for anyone who appreciates nature, animals and special experiences – even for those who may be a little reluctant to approach dogs at first.

Magic day 10km Already at the arrival 9:30 we take care of the dogs it takes a good time and it allows us to discover them. All super cute with humans. Then Superb ride. When we get back, we take care of the dogs. Meals together. Check-out after 2pm Maelys is a great host and loves what she does and shares it. It’s a very small committee experience that makes it even more qualitative! I recommend with your eyes closed you will not be disappointed! It was a unique and unforgettable moment away from tourist activities!

Really great experience that you will never forget. A lot of time is taken to explain everything so that you feel safe on the sled. You have enough time to cuddle with the dogs and pet them. You drive over a frozen lake and the view is a dream. After the sleigh ride you warm up by a fire with hot drinks and a sausage. At O’Nordic I would do this again and again.

 Verified Exciting winter adventure in a family atmosphere
An all-round successful sled dog day, as you imagine it. It soon becomes clear here that this is not mass tourism. Here, the dogs come first. You are there from the beginning, helping to prepare the dogs and getting a lot explained. You are assigned a sled as well as a team of wonderful dogs, to which you put the harness yourself. After the preparation you go on the sleds and you glide through the dreamlike winter landscape. Mailys drives ahead with her dog sled and always keeps eye contact with the other teams. After you get back, the dogs may be cuddled as a reward. Afterwards Mailys grills delicious sausages and there are hot drinks as well as cakes. This tour was an absolute highlight of our Lapland holiday.

Our visit to O'Nordic was a truly wonderful discovery. Even with temperatures dropping to -35°C, the experience was absolutely extraordinary. We highly appreciated Maëlis's professionalism and her dedication to our safety. She ensured we could enjoy the adventure without any risk despite the extreme cold. Her kindness and genuine love for her dogs are heartwarming; you can clearly see how much she cares for them. I truly recommend O'Nordic for an authentic Lapland experience. I cannot wait to go back.
