Winter experiences in Finnish Lapland

Explore our signature winter journeys,

from Arctic ski expeditions to immersive days with our Nordic dogs

Winter doesn't ask you to hurry.
It invites you to slow down, listen longer
Move differently

There is more than one way to experience winter.

Some journeys challenge you.
Others invite you to slow down.

Whether you’re gliding across a frozen lake on skis, walking through silent forests with our dogs or learning to travel differently, every experience begins with the same idea:

Nature sets the rhythm. We simply follow it.

Our signature experience

Arctic Ski & Pulka Overnight

ski pulka dogs winter lake

There comes a moment when you stop thinking about the distance.
You simply focus on the next glide, your breathing and the endless white stretching ahead.

The cold wakes you up. The effort slows your thoughts. Little by little, everyday life disappears.

Together, we cross frozen lakes and silent forests, pulling our pulkas while a few of our Nordic dogs quietly accompany the journey.

By the time you reach the cabin, you’re tired. But it’s the kind of tiredness that makes you feel completely alive.

2 days, 1 night on wilderness cabin
Small company for small private groups

Moderate physical challenge

FAQ
Do I need previous skiing experience?

Not necessarily.

For the Arctic Ski & Pulka Overnight, some previous experience on skis—or a good sense of balance and a willingness to learn—is recommended, as you’ll be travelling across frozen lakes and forest terrain.

Before setting off, we’ll introduce you to the equipment and adjust the pace to the group whenever possible. If you’re unsure whether this adventure is right for you, simply get in touch. We’ll be happy to help you choose the experience that suits you best.

Every experience is different.

Our Dog’s Approach and Dog Sledding & Snowshoeing Day are accessible to most travellers.

The Arctic Ski & Pulka Overnight is more demanding. You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should enjoy spending a full day outdoors and be comfortable walking or skiing for several hours while pulling a shared pulka.

The challenge isn’t about performance. It’s about embracing the journey. Most guests finish the expedition pleasantly tired, with the rewarding feeling that comes from moving through nature under their own strength.

Most of our signature experiences are offered privately or in very small groups.

This allows us to adapt the pace, the route and the day to the weather, snow conditions and, most importantly, to you. We believe a personal approach creates a more meaningful experience—for both our guests and our dogs.

At O’Nordic, we don’t believe the best memories come from ticking activities off a list.

Our experiences are designed for small groups and built around nature, not fixed schedules. Whether you’re travelling with our Nordic dogs, crossing frozen lakes on skis or sharing everyday moments around the fire, the focus is always on taking the time to experience the silence , nature, and time rather than simply passing through it.

Many of our tracks will bring you into another world: through forest, or the beautiful and stunning lake.
